(TheConservativeTimes.org) – X recently released the newest version of their artificial intelligence Chatbot called Grok 2. Grok has been responsible for spreading misinformation, specifically regarding elections, and allowing users to make images that are extremely life-like, causing confusion.
As a result of this, many election officials in Minnesota, Michigan, New Mexico, Washington, and Pennsylvania wrote to Elon Musk stating that the Chatbot produced false information regarding state ballot deadlines.
Deepfakes are becoming an increasing problem since users can still make questionable deepfake images of politicians, despite X supposedly tightening up on false information.
Some examples of the fake images that were created were images that showed Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz doing cocaine and even Kamala Harris wielding a knife at a grocery store.
There have been concerns over X’s technology and the ethics behind it, especially as other AI companies are putting safeguards in place to avoid these very issues.
Edward Tian, co-founder of GPTZero said, “Common sense safeguards in terms of AI-generated images, particularly of elected officials, would have even been in question for Twitter Trust and Safety teams pre-Elon.”
Grok is making the use of deepfakes much more prevalent, and it is causing more problems with an already large issue at hand.
With this said, even the Republican National Committee was using AI-generated images to advertise and showed the panic that would happen if Biden won this year’s election.
Donald Trump has also posted fake images including one that showed Harris speaking to a group of communists at the Democratic National Convention.
