Thanks to the Democrats, illegal aliens have once again committed another deadly crime: this time around, the victim is an 18-year-old Air Force recruit.
A Venezuelan national and an accomplice have been arrested in the tragic death of Ava Moore, adding to the mounting toll of Joe Biden’s border crisis.
Moore was killed in a jet ski hit-and-run while kayaking on Grapevine Lake over the Memorial Day weekend.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton confirmed both suspects are in the country illegally.
Following an intensive manhunt, authorities arrested Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez and an unidentified male accomplice after a standoff at their Dallas-area home.
The arrests involved an impressive coalition of law enforcement, including Dallas and Grapevine police, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Homeland Security, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who deployed drones for surveillance during the operation.
Gonzalez is accused of striking Moore with a jet ski while the teenager was kayaking on Grapevine Lake, then fleeing the scene instead of providing aid.
Moore suffered severe head trauma from the collision and was pronounced dead at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center. The male suspect helped Gonzalez escape after the fatal crash.
Paxton did not mince words about the preventable tragedy: “Ava Moore’s senseless death was caused by an illegal alien who should have never been in our country in the first place.”
He added, “My heart breaks for Ava’s family and friends, and my prayers are with them as they face this tragedy. My office will continue to work with local, state, and national law enforcement partners to secure justice for Ava.”
Moore was a recent high school graduate and basketball star who had enlisted in the Air Force and was set to begin basic training.
She had just completed her first year at the Air Force Preparatory School and was a former student and athlete at Timber Creek High School.
Investigators pieced together the case using photographs of Gonzalez distributed by police, which led to the identification and arrest of both suspects.
After hitting Moore, the pair committed another hit-and-run by striking another vehicle, showing a complete disregard for American laws and safety.
A second woman was on the jet ski during the incident but stayed at the scene after the collision, unlike Gonzalez.
The community has rallied around Moore’s family in their time of grief. A GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral costs has already raised over $31,000.
This tragedy represents yet another devastating consequence of the Biden administration’s border policies, which allowed millions of illegal aliens to flood into the country with minimal vetting.
Had immigration laws been properly enforced, a promising young American who wanted to serve her country would still be alive today.
