NEWS ALERT: Bad news for American aerospace giant Boeing as one of its models has caused yet another deadly plane crash.
Watch the video down below.
A London-bound Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed moments after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport, claiming hundreds of lives.
The disaster raises fresh questions about Boeing’s safety record amid ongoing scrutiny of its manufacturing standards.
Air India Flight AI171, carrying 242 people including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian, crashed in a residential area near Ahmedabad Airport shortly after takeoff.
The plane was heading to London Gatwick when it went down in the Meghaninagar area, creating a massive fireball and sending thick black smoke into the sky.
This catastrophic incident marks the first crash of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, dealing another devastating blow to the American aircraft manufacturer already struggling with safety concerns across its fleet.
The crash occurred just 5 minutes after takeoff, with the last signal from the aircraft received at 625 feet, mere seconds after becoming airborne.
According to reports, the aircraft made a desperate mayday call after takeoff but then went silent, crashing into a doctors’ hostel despite stable and clear weather conditions at the time.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene as all flights at Ahmedabad Airport were immediately suspended.
The captain of the doomed flight had 8,200 hours of flying experience while the copilot had logged 1,100 hours.
This raises questions about whether this was a mechanical failure rather than pilot error.
Boeing, facing yet another crisis, released a statement acknowledging awareness of the incident and claiming they are “gathering more information.”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences as rescue teams and emergency response agencies mobilized to the crash site.
The UK Foreign Office is reportedly working with local authorities as many British citizens were among the passengers.
Air India, recently acquired by India’s Tata Group, has established an emergency center for families seeking information about their loved ones.
The airline, which has been upgrading its fleet with Boeing and Airbus aircraft after the acquisition, now faces its first major crisis under new ownership.
This latest disaster adds to Boeing’s mounting problems after years of scrutiny following two fatal crashes of its 737 MAX aircraft that killed 346 people in 2018 and 2019.
Those incidents led to a worldwide grounding of the plane model and exposed serious flaws in Boeing’s safety culture.
Aviation experts will be closely examining whether manufacturing defects, maintenance issues, or other factors contributed to this unprecedented crash of Boeing’s flagship widebody aircraft.
