Bronx Medical School Students Receive FREE Tuition?!

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – A billion-dollar donation made to a New York City medical school has broken records, providing many students with free tuition.

Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a Bronx college, has received $1 billion. This generous donation was from a former professor, Dr. Ruth Gottesman, who is also a chair of the school’s board of trustees. Out of all of the Universities in the United States, this is by far the largest donation ever made.

Students will never have to pay tuition again, thanks to the donation to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, according to Dr. Phillir Ozuah who is the president and CEO of Montefiore Einstein. With this said, all current fourth-year students will be reimbursed for what they paid already for that year, and then following that, all students will not have to pay tuition at that school.

To put this in perspective, tuition and fees for one year of medical school is about $63,000 and many of the students are in over $200,000 in debt after graduating from this college.

A dean from the college, Dr. Yaron Tomer, said, “This donation radically revolutionizes our ability to continue attracting students who are committed to our mission, not just those who can afford it. Additionally, it will free up and lift our students, enabling them to pursue projects and ideas that might otherwise be prohibitive.”

“We will be reminded of the legacy this historic gift represents each spring as we send another diverse class of physicians out across the Bronx and around the world to provide compassionate care and transform their communities,” Tomer said.

This substantial and generous donation comes from Ruth Gottesman and her husband David “Sandy” Gottesman. Ruth Gottesman stated, “I am very thankful to my late husband, Sandy, for leaving these funds in my care, and l feel blessed to be given the great privilege of making this gift to such a worthy cause.”
