(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Although COVID cases are rising in California, the Los Angeles mayor has announced that city officials are looking into a full mask ban.
Karen Bass, the Los Angeles mayor, has been looking into the legality of wearing masks at demonstrations. This was in response to a pro-Palestinian protest outside a Los Angeles Synagogue, which made international news. Bass stated that she was seeking clarification from the city attorney “around what are the parameters with protests: when permits are needed, whether or not people should be masked, and establishing clear lines of demarcation between what is legal and what is not.”
This is the opposite of what we’ve seen previously where Democrats were supportive of masks and Republicans were against them. Data tracking COVID levels in wastewater from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have found that levels in California are significantly higher. In Los Angeles alone daily cases rose to over one hundred and fifty.
Democratic New York governor Kathy Hochul stated that New York public transit will ban masks, and said, “We will not tolerate individuals using masks to evade responsibility for criminal or threatening behavior.” She said that people on subway systems shouldn’t be able to hide behind masks and commit crimes.
Even New York City’s Democratic Mayor Eric Adams said he was a “strong supporter of the decision of stopping masks on our subway system, of masks in protests and masks in other areas where it is not health related.”
“I think that you’re going to see a great deal of very violent protests, and some of this despicable hate we’re seeing, I think you’re gonna see it dissipate,” he continued.
