(TheConservativeTimes.org) – A new poll has shown that more than half of Americans oppose Israel’s military action in Gaza while only a bit over thirty percent of people support the war.
Polls have shown that people are less supportive of the war now than they were last year when the same polls were conducted. Just over forty percent of people last year opposed the war.
In October, Hamas launched a military attack on Israel, which killed thousands of people and led to a war that’s lasted for months now. There have been over thirty thousand civilian Palestinians killed in the war, which has prompted a response from other countries regarding Israel’s lack of concern over the civilian population in the area.
“The issue does not register highly when Americans are asked to name the most important problem facing the U.S. Nor does it rank highly when Americans rate each of several international issues as critical threats to U.S. vital interests,” Gallup said.
Gallup continued to say that this war may still affect the U.S. presidential election as some people may be unsatisfied with how Joe Biden is handling the situation, which would skew their vote in the opposite direction.
The U.N. Security Council has passed a motion that would call for an immediate ceasefire which the United States opted to abstain from voting for to allow it to pass. The U.S. has vetoed any other resolution that included a ceasefire before this one. With this said, there hasn’t been a resolution reached between Israel and Hamas yet.
