(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Vivek Ramaswamy was originally running against former President Donald Trump in the GOP presidential primary, however, just recently he stepped down from the election and stated that he would be backing Trump instead.
On Tuesday, one day after stepping down from the election, Ramaswamy gave a speech in Atkinson, New Hampshire speaking in support of Trump in the upcoming election. This speech was one that many people recognized, as it sounded very similar to what he said when he was pitching himself as an elective candidate, except now it was geared towards Donald Trump.
Ramaswamy stood next to Trump, who had just recently said Ramaswamy was not being “MAGA” and accused him of “deceitful campaign tricks.”
“We are in the middle of a war in this country. Those of us who love the United States of America and a fringe minority who hate this country and what we stand for. And right now we need a commander in chief who will lead us to victory,” Ramaswamy said.
“I’ve been a friend of his even though we were competing against each other. But I was a friend of his and we got along and … I kept saying, ‘Why is he running? He keeps calling me a great president.’ But he’s a fantastic guy, a very smart guy. He’s got some tremendous ideas,” Trump said, referring to Ramaswamy.
“He’s going to be working with us for a long time,” Trump said. Many people in the crowd were chanting “VP! VP! VP!” which shows that we may see Ramaswamy and Trump on the presidential team together.
Ramaswamy had been seen pushing his own agenda for some time now as he was running for the election. He even was seen throwing Trump under the bus and giving out t-shirts that said “Save Trump. Vote Vivek.” However, this quickly changed when Trump won the Iowa caucus, which resulted in Ramaswamy dropping out of the election and backing Trump.
Ramaswamy spoke out in support of Trump saying, “I expect to join him tomorrow in New Hampshire and I think that I will expect to join him on the campaign trail after that as well, because I think it’s important that he becomes the next president of the United States.”
