(TheConservativeTimes.org) – The Biden administration just announced that they would be forgiving another substantial amount of student loans for almost three hundred thousand people.
Biden announced that his next phase in student debt forgiveness would include another seven billion dollars. Biden has been pushing for this kind of forgiveness since he campaigned for his first term and he’s stuck to his plan of forgiving billions of dollars in student loan debt.
“As long as there are people with overwhelming student loan debt competing with basic needs such as food and healthcare, we will remain relentless in our pursuit to bring relief to millions across the country,” said Miguel Cardona, the U.S. Secretary of Education.
In this round, two hundred thousand students will have a full amount of $3.6 billion erased from their debt. Following this, over sixty thousand people will have their debt completely erased.
At the beginning of Biden’s attempts to forgive student loans, conservatives said that this was unconstitutional. The Department of Education approved billions in student loan forgiveness and it has been maintained by relief programs such as SAVE.
Since Biden’s term started, he has come up with multiple ways to help students with their loans and helped those with lower-standing loan amounts.
The Department of Education has been looking into getting even more student debt relief. The Biden Administration has been rolling out more programs such as his most recent Student Loan Forgiveness Do Over Plan.
