(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Supermodel Gigi Hadid has issued an apology for a now-deleted post on social media where she accused Israel of being “the only country in the world” that takes children prisoners and committing all sorts of atrocities against Palestinians for several years “before October 7.”
October 7 is the date members of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas breached Israel’s borders and conducted simultaneous violent attacks against the Jewish state, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,200 people.
In her post on Instagram, Hadid, who is American but of Palestinian ethnicity, used the case of Ahmed Mansara, whom she claimed was “abducted” by Israeli operatives as a young boy and kept as a child prisoner of war. In truth however, Mansara stabbed several people in East Jerusalem when he was only 13 – an act that happened to be caught on video – which resulted in his incarceration. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
In a lengthy apology post to her more than 79 million followers, the model admitted that she neglected to both “fact-check” and “think deeply” about her post. She reasoned though, that she only wanted to demonstrate how Israel violates international law – unfortunately she again admitted that she “used the wrong example” in an attempt to make her point. She also said that “taking innocent people hostage,” “attacking any human” or “harming someone” because of their ethnicity – including Jewish people – is “NEVER OK”.
However, Hadid has not stopped her posting of anti-Israel sentiments. She has also recently claimed that Israel is “harvesting organs” from Palestinians who have died in hostilities in Gaza. That post was also deleted. However, she has continued to stand by her statement that she believes Israel commits “systemic mistreatment” of the Palestinian people.
Hadid, whose father fled to Lebanon in the 1940’s and moved to the U.S. and eventually became a luxury real estate developer in Los Angeles, has also been called out by celebrities for her tirades against Israel. Supermodel Bar Refaeli, who is Israeli, was one of them. She called Hadid out for the Mansara post, saying that Hadid was regurgitating old anti-Semitic claims that portrayed the “knife-wielding Palestinian terrorist as a victim.”
