Homeland Security House Committee Seeks Answers About “Cop City” Attack

(TheConservativeTimes.com) – Questions are being asked of President Joe Biden’s Administration about their apparent acceptance of domestic terrorists on the far left.

House Committee of Homeland Security Chairman Mark E Green, R. Tennessee, has shone a spotlight on the issue after twenty-three people were charged in Georgia following an apparently coordinated attack on the construction site for the future Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.

“With twenty three individuals arrested on charges of alleged domestic terrorism at the state level and not a word from the White House or the Secretary of Homeland Security, this administration is continuing to incentivize lawlessness in our nation.” Green told Fox News.

The suspects traveled from far and wide to participate in the attack, where they set fire to and vandalized construction equipment and attacked police officers. Only two of the suspects were local to the state of Georgia, the others came from Arizona, New York, and Massachusetts, and strangely, two individuals came from France and Canada.

The Atlanta Police Department’s officer had a measured response using nonlethal means to disband the attackers and detain those involved on the day of the attack. After the rejection of an appeal against the building permits of the training center, construction will move forward.

The fact that two individuals were international, on top of the apparent coordination of the attack, compelled the Committee on Homeland Security to begin an oversight investigation. The committee submitted a letter to Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of the US Department of Homeland Security.

“Notably, one of the individuals charged with domestic terrorism at the site of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center is an employee of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a biased and far-left organization. Following the violent attack, the SPLC released a statement denouncing the employee’s arrest and blaming police “escalation” for the violence,” the letter reads.

“This statement is concerning as both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FBI have cited and relied upon SPLC’s opinions for official products, raising serious questions about those products’ objectivity and impartiality.”

The letter also requests information, documents, and a briefing from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) to assist the committee in its oversight pertaining to the attack as soon as possible.
