Medication Abortion Accounts For Most Abortions in the U.S.

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – According to a brand new study, most of the abortions that are being done in the United States are medication abortions.

Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, there were over six hundred thousand medication abortions that took place. Since the court’s decision, fourteen different states have made abortion illegal.

The most common abortion medication uses two different medications: Mifepristone and Misoprotol. Mifepristone is currently under a legal challenge at the moment by the Supreme Court which could restrict the accessibility of the drug nationwide.

This drug is safe to use if you are under ten weeks pregnant and it’s so accessible that many can be prescribed through a telehealth appointment. Surprisingly, following the Supreme Court decision there has been an increase in the amount of abortions that are happening in the United States.

There is a continuation of the development of abortion restrictions as a court hearing for mifepristone is underway. The court could potentially restrict the ability of practices to mail the drug to people who are living in states with an abortion ban. This would mean that the patients would have to come in person to get the drug.

This topic is prevalent in the minds of many Americans and many states have been viewing abortion and the legalization of it differently. At the moment, most are waiting for a ruling from the Supreme Court on the medication before making any changes to their abortion laws fully.
